EPHRATA — The National Hydro Association recently presented its Outstanding Stewards of America’s Waters Award to the Grant County Public Utility District for its video tour of Wanapum Dam.

The NHA stated that Grant PUD received the award for its educational value.

“Grant County PUD crafted an innovative and concise video to educate the public on the value of hydropower,” stated the NHA in a news release. “A capstone of its new fish and hydro interpretive center, the video distills hydropower’s technical language into a 3D virtual tour of how Wanapum Dam meets the renewable energy needs of millions of customers throughout the Pacific Northwest.”

Grant PUD employees Vanessa Seldal, Chuck Allen, Thomas Stredwick and Stuart Hammond were recognized during the Grant PUD Board of Commissioners meeting on June 14 for their parts in creating the video, which is shown at the Grant PUD Visitor Center near Wanapum Dam.

The center is open daily in the summer from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
