Richard 'Dick' Lee Hopperstad, Sr

Richard “Dick” Lee Hopperstad, Sr., 72, Moses Lake resident met his Lord and Savior on July 8, 2016 at his home surrounded by family. Holy Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church followed by a Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. Inurnment will be in the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Columbarium. Please join the family for a reception in the Fatima Center following the service.

Richard was born July 2, 1944 in Grafton, N.D. to Aarthun Rod Hopperstad and Norma Iverna Bry. He graduated in 1962 from Prosser High School and he married Margaret Jane Beaudry on May 22, 1965. He was drafted into the US Army on Aug. 16, 1966. His son Richard Lee, Jr. was born in Fort Hood, Texas on May 3, 1967. A little over a year later, he was honorably discharged on Aug. 16, 1968 and they moved to Yakima, Wash.

His son, Ryan Darel, was born on Oct. 24, 1970 in Yakima, Wash. Richard and family resided in Yakima for the better part of 15 years. This was where he learned craft of title insurance. He owned title companies in both Yakima and Moses Lake spanning a career of 36 years.

Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, archery and playing his guitar.

Richard is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret; son Richard of Yakima, son Ryan (Natalie) of Moses Lake and sister Carol of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; brother Norm of Moses Lake, sister Barbara of Bellingham and brother Don Clements of Yakima; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and three grandchildren, Jayda, Ellie and Isaiah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers John Martin Hopperstad and Dennis Aarthun Hopperstad, twin brother Robert Lynn Hopperstad, and sister Norma Joanne Townsend.
