Gary was born Jan. 23, 1952 in Moses Lake, Wash. to Hiro and June Yamamoto. He spent his early years in Moses Lake and Othello until his family established their home in east Royal Slope where Gary still lived at time of his passing. Gary graduated from Royal High School. He went on to Washington State University where he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He also attended graduate school at Santa Clara University.

In 1977 Gary returned to the family farming business. In his later years he worked for Brown Boys Onion in Royal City.

Gary enjoyed all sports, particularly the Seattle Mariners and Seahawks, and was a die hard Cougar fan. He enjoyed trips with his buddies to Reno and Las Vegas. Golfing and fishing trips turned into fun bantering, most times Gary bantering more than fishing.

Gary was preceded in death by his father Hiro Yamamoto. He is survived by his mother June Yamamoto, Moses Lake; brothers: Byron (Carol) Yamamoto, Fall City, Tim Yamamoto, Soap Lake and sister Becky (Gordy) Hattori, Redmond; aunts, uncle and many cousins.
