Quincy grower chosen to chair WA State Potato Commission

MOSES LAKE — The Washington State Potato Commission (WSPC) has chosen Rex Calloway as chair of the commission and will officially begin his term July 1.
Calloway, whose family farm is located near Quincy, will follow Mike Dodds. Dodds has chaired the commission since last July.
“The commissioners and staff will continue to take a proactive role on key issues that impact our industry and I’m excited to continue building upon all of the great work that has been done by everyone who has served in the past,” Calloway said. “We want to do what we can as a commission to continue to serve the industry and help the growers throughout the state focus on producing and marketing their crops.”
Dodds will continue to serve on the commission and on the WSPC’s Executive Committee. The members of the WSPC’s Executive Committee include:
- Stacy Kniveton (Pasco), First Vice Chair
- Roger Hawley (Burlington), Second Vice Chair • Mike Madsen (Plymouth), Secretar
- Derek Davenport (Pasco), Treasurer
- Mike Dodds (Moses Lake), Past Chair
Members of the WSPC Executive Team will each serve in their respective positions for one year.
The commission is governed by 15 commissioners. Nine are potato grower-elected positions and five are positions appointed by the commissioners. In addition, a representative from the Washington State Department of Agriculture also sits on the board.
