GEORGE — An 8-year-old Edmonds boy was injured in a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 90 near George on Friday.

About 1:30 p.m. Ever Garcia, 50, of Edmonds, was driving a 1999 Nissan Maxima east on I-90, about 13 miles east of George, when he reportedly attempted to improperly change lanes and struck a 2003 Saturn L200 driven by Cody Beckner, 23, of Warden, according to the Washington State Patrol. Garcia’s vehicle struck some cable barriers and came to a rest in the median facing west.

Garcia's passenger, an 8-year-old boy from Edmonds, was the only person injured and was taken to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake for treatment. Garcia’s vehicle sustained reportable damage and was impounded. Beckner’s vehicle also received reportable damage, but was driven from the scene.

Garcia was cited for improper lane change, according to the patrol.
