Taylor Orchards Plat Plans moving forward in Mattawa

MATTAWA — City Planner Darryl Piercy told the last meeting of the Mattawa City Council, on June 16, that the Taylor Orchards Plat, which would bring much-needed new housing to the community, is moving right along.

Piercy said Taylor Orchards has purchased a bond for improvements and has paid the water right fees in lieu of water rights, which totaled $57,600. He said platting requirements have been completed, and the county has approved it.

According to Piercy, the Taylor Orchards plan, for more than 20 acres in the southwest quadrant of the Highway 243 roundabout, calls for installing water, sewer and power this year.

The corner lot will be for commercial uses, Piercy said, and the other three lots are starting development with a residential element.

In other business, the Council approved an event permit for Mattawa CommUnity Day on July 30.

It also approved the annual Fourth of July flag raising ceremony in Hund Memorial Park, contingent on approved insurance.

The Council approved a consent agenda that included a payroll of $9,500, claims for $68,784.23 and the Council meeting minutes from June 2.
