Milton B. Robbins

December 10, 1928 – January 17, 2016

Milton B. Robbins (Mitt), 87, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, in Pasco, Wash. He was born on Dec. 10, 1928, in Rupert, Idaho to Hyrum and Laura Robbins. He met his sweetheart, Dorothy Field Robbins, in Kellogg, Idaho, where they were married. Mitt worked in the mines for a short time and also worked in a lumber yard in the Kellogg area.

In 1957 his brothers, Lovell and Gene Robbins, gave him an opportunity to move to Royal Slope, Wash. to farm with them. He loved farming and was awarded consecutively runner-up “Conservation Farmer of The Year” in 1967 and 1968, and in 1969 he was awarded “Conservation Farmer of The Year.” Mitt was a hard worker who taught all his children the value of work. He considered the farm the greatest place to raise a family.

He retired from farming in 1991 and shortly thereafter he and his wife served an LDS mission in Brisbane, Australia. They provided further service in the Seattle Temple. They also served a service mission at the Ensign Ranch. After their service mission, they sold their home on the Slope in 2003, then moved and built a home in Pasco. Shortly after moving to Pasco, they served a mission at the LDS Employment Center. Mitt was very handy at many things but especially loved serving and helping others. When there was a need, he was there and sometimes before they even knew they needed it. He loved spending time in his workshop making gifts for others. Many homes have a piece of Mitt in them. He loved people and making connections with them. He loved being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions and served in a variety of callings over the years. His life was centered around his family and faith. He endured to the end as a loving caregiver to the love of his life, Dotty.

Mitt is survived by his loving wife Dorothy of 66 years; daughters DeeAnne (Jerry) Anderson, Moses Lake; Karen (Garth) Peterson, Othello; Janice (Ed) Barron, Pasco; sons Ronald (Kerri) Robbins, Twin Falls, Idaho and Douglas (Melissa) Robbins, Bend, Ore. He was preceded in death by his parents Hyrum and Laura and by his siblings Gerald, Lovell, Gene, Max, Rodney, Gwen, Lula, and Rae. He is survived by two siblings, Leo Robbins and Verlee Frost. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held on Friday, Jan. 22, 2016 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Mueller’s Greenlee Funeral Home at 1608 W. Court Street in Pasco, Wash. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016 at the LDS Church Building located at 4305 Crescent Road in Pasco, Wash. at 11 a.m. A Grave Dedication will follow the services at the City View Cemetery off Oregon Avenue in Pasco, Wash.
