An open letter to Gov. Jay Inslee

| January 21, 2016 12:45 PM

Friends of mine made me aware of your recent email to Washington voters. The email can be found online at http://shared.nrapvf.org/sharedmedia/1508518/inslee-attack-email-january-11.pdf.

If you want to cut down on the number of guns sold illegally, have law enforcement run “sting operations” and encourage the Legislature to change the laws to enforce a minimum 10-year sentence of jail time to offenders.

No law has ever prevented a crime. The State of Washington has more than a sufficient number of laws, and it is your personal moral duty to see they are properly enforced, rather than call for additional legislation.

As a life member of the NRA, I am demanding an open letter of apology to be published in every newspaper in the state from Gov. Jay Inslee calling law abiding people a “destructive force.”

Please request the Legislature to study the actual number of crimes committed by people who are NRA members, and those who have concealed weapon permits. Before you attack those who do not commit violent crimes, do an actual study and publish the results as to how many crimes are due to previously convicted criminals turned loose to prey on the public. Note: those are the people who buy guns from the trunks of automobiles, not gun shops, or gun shows.
