QUINCY — Two persons were injured Sunday morning when the vehicle they were in crashed five miles south of here on Highway 281.

The collision occurred at about 8 a.m. The Washington State Patrol said drugs or alcohol were a factor. Both persons wore proper safety restraints, the WSP said.

According to the WSP, Gavriela Avalos, 23, of Quincy was driving a blue 1996 Honda Accord southbound on 281 when she lost control. The Accord went off the roadway to the right, rolled and came to rest on its wheels off the roadway.

Avalos was injured. So was her passenger, Eduardo Velasquez, 24, of George. Both were taken by ambulance to Quincy Valley Medical Center.

The Accord was totaled, the WSP said. It was removed by a private party.

According to the WSP, inattention was the cause of the crash. Avalos was cited for negligent driving.
