Alvira Gordon
February 22, 1928 – February 14, 2016
Alvira Louise Gordon was born in Chatteroy, Wash. to Guy and Gladys Giersdorf. She grew up in Moses Lake where she graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1946. She spent most of her working life in Moses Lake as well. Upon taking an early retirement from her job as a meat wrapper, she and her husband Sam began wintering in Yuma, Ariz. They also served as campground hosts at Lake Roosevelt in Washington for 10 summers. They purchased a lot in Country Roads in December 1991 and put in a park model. This eventually became her permanent home. She enjoyed crafting, fishing, painting, gardening, and right to the end, a good game of pinochle. Her cheerful attitude attracted many friends that were like family to her.
She is predeceased by husbands James Gray and Sam Gordon; one brother, Louis Giersdorf and one granddaughter, Sarah Gray. She is survived by her children: Glen Gray, Duane Gray and Patricia Bundies of Moses Lake and Elva (Murray) Meikle of Creston, British Columbia, Canada; one sister, Frances Hellums; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many who called her friend. In respect of her wishes, there will be no public service.
