Malaga woman hurt in car crash

QUINCY — A Malaga woman was injured two miles west of here on Highway 28 on Feb. 5 when the car she was driving was hit by another upon entering the highway.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Liliana Espinoza Leon, 24, northbound on Road U, stopped at the stop sign at 28 but entered the highway too soon with her black 2003 Toyota Corolla.

The Toyota was struck by an eastbound 2010 black Ford Fusion. It was driven by Samuel P. Volkov, 20, of Quincy.

Both drivers were wearing proper restraints, and neither alcohol nor drugs were involved. Espinoza was taken to Quincy Valley Medical Center. Volkov was uninjured.

Both vehicles were totaled and towed.

The cause of the accident was failure to yield, according to the WSP. Espinoza was cited for failure to yield.
