Percy Virgil Wentland
March 26, 1921 – January 20, 2016
Percy Virgil Wentland, 94 of Moses Lake, Wash., had a fatal heart attack, Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016 while on a trip to the grocery store. He would have been 95 years old in March and lived an active and productive life.
Percy was born at home March 26, 1921 in Carrington, N.D. to Daniel Sidney and Tillie (Schiller) Wentland. He graduated from Walla Walla College Academy and began to study theology at Walla Walla College. On July 31, 1944 he married the former Anita June Cushman in the College Place, Washington area. He and Anita we married 72 happy years. Percy was employed as an electrical contractor and operated Wentland Electric in Moses Lake, Washington until his retirement. He then attended Broadmore College of Massage in Seattle, Wash. which not only included the art of scientific manipulation massage and elementary principles of anatomy and physiology, but also hydro-therapy, dietetics hygiene and first aid. He became certified in June 30, 1970. His next adventure was in Guadalajara, Mexico at the Institute of Drugless Therapy where he became certified as a Doctor of Naturopathy. In 1978 he went to Canada and attended Dominion Herbal College, becoming certified as a Chartered Herbalist. For approximately 33 years out of this 63 years as a Moses Lake resident, he operated The Health Key.
He is survived by his spouse, Anita Wentland and his daughter Judi Hanson. His surviving siblings are Helen Birchel and Betty Leaf. He is preceded in death by his son James Burten “Jimmy” Wentland and his parents, Daniel Sidney “Sid” and Tilley Wentland, and sibling, Jean Wentland.
The Memorial will be held Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1601 W. Valley Road, Moses Lake, Wash. The service will be followed by a light luncheon.
