QUINCY — Over-matched against a talented Wapato team, Quincy fought for the first few minutes.

After allowing an 8-2 run early, the Jacks drew within four points and trailed 10-6 when the Wolves called a timeout.

From that point it was all Wapato, led by Tarryn Hart, as the visiting team closed the opening quarter on a 14-1 run. Quincy would go on to lose its 15th straight game, 65-32.

Rachel Faw and Elizabeth Nielson led the Jacks with 10 points each. Faw provided a spark off the bench in the second quarter, scoring all eight of Quincy’s points in the period.

Hart, a 5-foot-8 point forward for the Wolves, controlled the action on both sides of the floor.

Moses Lake Christian Academy 58, Thorp-Easton 18

MOSES LAKE — Powered by the trio of Anna Yarbro, Dani Sandberg and Alex Toevs, Moses Lake Christian Academy routed visiting Thorp-Easton 58-18.

“They came out and they played hard,” head coach Josh Kast said. “There was a couple things we could’ve done better.”

Kast was glad some younger players were able to log significant minutes and contribute to the point total.

Yarbro led the way with 25 points. Sandberg and Toevs added 19 and eight points, respectively.

MLCA hosts Pateros Friday in what will likely determine the Central Washington 1B league champion.

“I’m sure both teams will be ready to play and it will be hard-fought,” Kast said.

Warden 59, White Swan 47

WARDEN — Warden rediscovered its offensive rhythm in a 59-47 win over White Swan.

It was the highest scoring game for the Cougars since a 60-point effort against Soap Lake on Jan. 5.

“It helped having Shania (Kisler) back tonight,” head coach Dan Caballero said. “All of our seniors did a heck of a job for us.”

Kisler returned from a foot injury to score 20 points. Allycia Gonzales and Bailey Whitney notched 15 and 11 points, respectively.

“Overall I thought we played real well,” Caballero said.

Warden finishes the regular season at Mabton.

MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake Christian Academy kept its playoff hopes alive with a lopsided win over Thorp-Easton, 63-14.

The Lions led 44-4 at halftime.

Head coach Lonny Brown was proud of the clean game MLCA played.

“Another good thing for us is we had a season-low in turnovers,” he said.

The Lions gave the ball away only four times.

Jeffrey Holm scored a game-high 16 points. Sam Roeber totaled 15 and Ben Caballero added 12 points.

Brown thinks MLCA can lock a playoff spot down with a win Friday against Pateros and a win Feb. 9 at Wilson Creek.

Warden 70, White Swan 66

WARDEN — Warden eked out a 70-66 win over White Swan.

After trailing by one point late in the fourth quarter, Sergio Vela’s three steals keyed the Cougars’ rally. Vela scored 11 points to go along with his defensive effort.

JR Delgado led the way with 17 points and Pedro Gonzalez added 10.

“What I was really pleased with was our balance,” head coach Wes Richins said.

Warden finishes its regular season at Mabton in a game that will determine the Central Washington 2B South league champion and No. 1 seed to districts.
