ROYAL CITY — The Royal High School boys basketball team shut out Burbank, 10-0, in the second period to lead 24-17 at halftime and still lost last week’s lone game, 62-48.

The Coyotes came back from a 34-31 deficit after three quarters with a 31-14 fourth period. Coach Pete Christensen is looking for answers. He’s not sure the long football season has been the only challenge.

The field goal shooting from 2-point range was good at 45 percent. But the three-point shooting was only 33 percent. Only six boys shot the ball, and only four scored.

The Knights were led on offense by the Ellis brothers, Isaac and Owen, with 16 points each. Corbin Christensen scored 13 points, and Kaden Jenks made three.

Owen Ellis led in rebounds with seven. Isaac Ellis and Corbin Christensen got five each. Corbin Christensen had six steals, and Isaac Ellis had three.

Royal plays at the Wilbur Ellis Tournament at the Sun Dome at 12 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights will play at noon again on Friday at the same location.
