Prep roundup: Moses Lake falls to Estrella Foothills 69-57

GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Moses Lake shot poorly lost to Estrella Foothills 69-57 on the first day of the Desert Edge Scorpion Challenge.

Normally a quality shooting team, the Chiefs shots 26 percent from the three-point line and 53 percent from the free throw line.

Estrella Foothills led by as much as 20 points, 53-33, before Moses Lake cut into the deficit in the fourth quarter.

Zach Phillips and Ryan Karstetter led the scoring with 23 and 18 points, respectively. Phillips also tied for the team lead with eight rebounds.

However, the balanced scoring that has been a staple in victories vanished with the rest of the team totaling 15 points.

Ricky Robinson led Estrella Foothills with 20 points. Grant Greabell and Nick Masi scored 18 points each for the Wolves.

Moses Lake faces Coronado today at 1 p.m.


Toppenish 58, Othello 46

TOPPENISH — Othello could not make up a big halftime deficit and lost to Toppenish on the road 58-46.

Elias Valdez and Adrian Garza led the huskies with 10 points each.


Girls basketball

Toppenish 73, Othello 55

TOPPENISH — Othello had three girls score in double figures, but fell to Toppenish 73-55.

Macy Hampton scored a team-high 19 points; Alexis Coronado and Tanaya Anderson had 10 points each.

Janissa Garza and Giselle Monroy added nine and seven points, respectively.

Othello hosts Ephrata Thursday at 5:45 p.m.
