Othello girls wrestling places first in Burbank

BURBANK — Othello placed first at Columbia’s girls wrestling invitational.

The Huskies totaled 219 points; Warden placed second with 146 points.

“The girls are continuing to get better,” Othello head coach JJ Martinez said. “They’re being successful.”

Othello crowned three champions: Nikki Velazquez, Kaylee Martines and Elizabeth Giles.

Emily Mendez, Victoria Mendoza, Estephania Vargas and Gabby Rodriguez took third.

Both Othello and Warden will next compete at the Winter Cup Wrestling Tournament in Hanford on Dec. 29.
