Roy Dell Wilcox April 20, 1941 - December 3, 2016
Roy Dell Wilcox passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016 at Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake, Wash. from the complications of COPD. He was born April 20, 1941 in Yakima, Wash. to Lawrence A. Wilcox and Doris M. Bolin. He was 75 years old.
Roy was a hard-working man who could always find a way to earn a living in spite of numerous injuries and ailments he endured over the years. He always adapted to what he was able to do. He wore many hats including farming, running a hay boom-loader, running his own semi truck for hay, apples and scrap iron, and finally the recycling business in Royal City. He did not have much schooling but had a lot of common sense about knowing how to fix anything mechanical or build any equipment he needed. He loved to tease people and you never quite knew what would come out of his mouth. But Roy would have done anything for a friend in need if he could help. There was never a dull moment with Roy and yet he was loved dearly by his wife Linda for 43 years and by his family.
He is survived by his wife Linda (Gustavson); two daughters Kathy Peterson, Prosser and Kandy (Louie) De Los Santos, Tennessee; four granddaughters Brooke (Robert) Wheeler, West Richland, Justina Baird, Thompson Falls, Mont., Bobbie Jo Baird, Prosser and Kati-Jean (Ethan) Clouse, West Richland and one grandson Keven Looper at Boise State University. There are also nine great-grandchildren. Roy is also survived by two sisters Rose Rathjen, Yakima and Betty Straite, Spokane, and two brothers Ronald (Bev) Wilcox, Yakima, and Richard (Anne) Wilcox. There are also many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Frances Brueckner, and Carolyn George; one brother Roland and two infant brothers.
The family will be having a private gathering to remember Roy. A celebration of life may be held at a later date.
