Donna Jean Miller December 22,1927 - December 9, 2016
Donna Jean Miller passed away Dec. 9, 2016, a few weeks shy of her 89th birthday with her family at her side. A memorial service will be held at Dugan-Kramer Chapel in Scottsbluff, Neb. on Friday, Dec. 16 at 11: a.m. with inurnment at Sunset Memorial Park. Donna Jean Bryan was born on Dec. 22, 1927 in Aurora, Neb.. She was dedicated to her family and teaching career. She was a graduate of Aurora High School and Kearney State College. Donna taught elementary school for 17 years in western Nebraska and eastern Wyoming. In 1974, the family moved to Othello, Wash. where she continued her career in education before retiring in 1990. Donna had a passion for children and teaching and touched the lives of countless students throughout her 33 years as a teacher. She loved music and enjoyed dancing. She was an avid bridge player and active member of the Senior Center in Othello, Wash. In March of 2015, she moved to Scottsbluff, Neb. to be near her son Jon and other family members.
Donna was preceded in death by her first husband William Trego of Tryon, Neb. in 1953, her second husband Billy Calahan of Lyman, Neb. in 1963 and Clarence Miller of Othello, Wash. in 2006; parents Floyd and Esther Bryan of Campbell, Neb.; sister Barbara Allen of Valentine, Neb. and brother Jack Bryan of Pueblo, CO.
She is survived by her sisters Rosalie (Bill) Pearson of Campbell, Neb. and Linda (Mike) Thurber of Littleton, Colo.; sons Jim (Diane) Calahan of Roseville, Calif. and Jon (Kathy) Calahan of Morrill, Neb.; stepdaughters Jeri Clapper of Scottsbluff, Neb. and Cindy Sheen of Santa Maria, Calif.. At the time of her passing she had seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
