EPHRATA — Ephrata staged a furious comeback, but ultimately fell to Wapato 40-33.

“We had some tight matches,” head coach PJ Anderson said. “Our kids wrestled tough.”

Efrain Bedolla (285) and Sammy Flores (106) began the dual with a pair of wins for the Tigers. Bedolla was on the right side of a 7-1 decision and Flores won by fall.

However, the Wolves collected a pair of forfeits and won six of the next seven matches.

Wapato forfeited 182 and 195 pounds before Drew Anderson (220) won by fall.

Selah 44, Quincy 29

SELAH — Down four varsity wrestlers, Quincy battled with Selah before succumbing to a 44-29 defeat.

The Jacks had three wrestlers traveling to Idaho for the Tri-State Tournament and another was scratched.

However, the split squad held its own on the road.

“Gio Garcia stepped up and got a big pin for us,” head coach Greg Martinez said.

In the 170-pound match, Ray Robinson lost to state veteran Aaron Pimentel but did not surrender pin points.

“He worked really hard for us tonight,” Martinez said.

Quincy will also compete at the Cashmere Invite this weekend.
