Roy Alvarez

September 16, 1937 – November 27, 2016

He was the eighth child born to Samuel Alvarez and Antonia Ortiz, Quemado, Texas. He attended school in the Yakima Valley, where he met our mom, Sally Alvarez, and they married in 1956.

He was employed by Harold S. Cox Farms and Yoshino Bros. Farms, and in 1971 moved to Moses Lake, where he became a semi-truck driver and later had the privilege of working for the local car dealer ships, including a stint at his own. After 24 years he retired.

Dad was a member of the Latin-American Club and the first Hispanic Jaycee president and was also an ambassador to El Salvador for the Jaycees. He later became an Exhausted Rooster of the Jaycees.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Sally, of 59 years, his parents and several siblings: Odilia Silva, Marcos Alvarez, Agrapina Camarillo, Violet Gonzales, Eudelo Alvarez and Jose Alvarez. He is survived by siblings Helen Garcia, Samuel Alvarez, Jesus Alvarez, Eduardo Alvarez and Hilda Clure and by his children Belinda (Charles) Alaniz, Paula (Dan) Chapel, E. Joan Alvarez, Marcos (San Juana) Alvarez and Jacqueline Alvarez.
