1 dead in 2-vehicle collision near Quincy

QUINCY — A 21-year-old man died in a two-vehicle collision near Quincy early Saturday morning.

About 6:50 a.m. Reynaldo Ureta, 55, of Quincy, was driving a 2011 Mercedes C300 east on state Route 28, about one mile west of Quincy, and reportedly crossed the centerline and struck a westbound 1997 Honda Civic driven by Hector Rosales Ayala, 21, of Quincy, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Ureta’s vehicle left the road and came to a rest north of the highway. Rosales Ayala’s vehicle came to a rest south of the highway. Rosales Ayala was killed in the accident. Ureta received injuries and was transported to Quincy Valley Medical Center via ambulance for treatment.

Both vehicles were totaled. The patrol reports that Ureta was cited for driving over the center line. SR-28 was closed for several hours on Saturday as the WSP investigated.
