Neoma Loraine Fudge Geer

| December 2, 2016 2:00 AM

November 15, 1959 – November 1, 2016

Neoma passed Nov. 1 at home in Moses Lake. Neoma was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Neoma is survived by partner of many years, Jim Jacobs (Moses Lake); two sisters, Dolly Morley (Arizona) and Barbara Jones (Arkansas); daughter Amy Delp (Moses Lake); two grandchildren, David and MollyAnn (Moses Lake); Ellese Sharp, who was like a daughter (Moses Lake) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who became family along the way. She is proceeded in death by parents, Loraine Wixom and Clarence Fudge, and brother Jerry Fudge.

Born November 15, 1959 in Los Angeles County, Calif. to Loraine and Clarence Fudge, Neoma was the youngest of four siblings. She spent time as a child in California, Oklahoma and Texas before moving to Moses Lake when she was 17 years old.

After arriving in Moses Lake, she began what turned out to be a nearly 30-year career in the dietary department at Samaritan Hospital as a cook. While working at Samaritan Hospital, Neoma helped organize the union and regularly participated in the Relay for Life team. After an injury ended her career at the hospital, Neoma got the opportunity to finish high school and received her diploma in 2003. She then attended Big Bend Community College for a year.

Neoma was known for helping others. She held many positions where helping others was her job: teaching math to adults getting their GED at Big Bend, teaching at-risk youth cooking at Job Corps, helping developmentally disabled adults get and hold jobs at Goodwill and Ambitions, working as an in-home caregiver and even cleaning homes. She also spent much time volunteering with organizations such as the Eagles, Elks and Moose lodges, Camp Fire, Relay for Life, Moses Lake Business Association and the Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation, to name a few.

Although Neoma was a hard worker, she played just as hard. Over the years, Neoma enjoyed shopping, camping, golfing and playing pool and was always up for a good time with friends.

Neoma never met a stranger. She was very outgoing and kind. She had three long-term relationships in her life (David Geer, Mike Henson and Jim Jacobs) from all of whom she gained a larger family tree. Neoma had only one child, Amy, to whom she was a wonderful mother. She was able to see her daughter become a mother, graduate collage and begin her career before she passed.

Thank you to all who celebrated her life on Nov. 7. Fulfilling her wishes, her ashes will be spread on the beach near Ocean Shores, Wash.

In lieu of flowers please make a monetary donation or a donation of service to the following organizations in her honor: Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation, Relay for Life, Moses Lake Elks Lodge, or Moses Lake Eagles Lodge.

Those we love can never be more than a thought away... for as long as there’s a memory they live in our hearts to stay.
