| December 2, 2016 12:00 AM

Barbara Jean Dell Harris was born April 19, 1945. She lived in the same house at the end of Thomas Addition outside of Rocky Ford, Colorado until she married Dennie Harris on August 19, 1962. She graduated from Rocky Ford High School in 1963. Dennie was unable to attend her graduation because he had been drafted into the U.S. Army and was completing basic training in Fort Ord, California. They both went to his next assignment in Aberdeen, Maryland and then to Germany. Their son, Darin, was born in Munchen. They lived in Rocky Ford and then in Karval when they returned. Their daughter, Brenda, was born in Hugo, Colorado.

They moved to Royal City, Washington in 1975. Barbara ran a combine, along with Dennie and Darin. Then she managed and ran The Ice Cream Shop with Bakery with Brenda helping. For a while she worked in a café, and then got a job for the school district where she worked for 15 years. They bought their farm in 1995 and she helped with irrigating and baled hay when they had hay.

The family was baptized in the Columbia River on August 6, 1978 by Reverend John Hahn. Barbara was a member of the Nazarene Church.
