LIND — An eight-year-old boy died last week near the town of Lind after he was reportedly run over by a tractor.

About 2 p.m. on Wednesday Ritzville EMS and deputies with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a farm accident on Wahl Road, about a half-a-mile north of Lind. Initial reports indicated an eight-year-old boy had been run over by a tractor and was unresponsive. Adams County Dispatch provided the boy’s father with instructions on how to perform CPR until emergency services arrived, according to the ACSO.

Deputies arrived at the scene and found the boy had died and was lying next to the rear track of a Case International Harvester 485 Quadtrac tractor. The boy’s father told deputies he had slowed the tractor to let his son climb up into the cab and the boy lost his footing on the first step. The boy reportedly fell to the ground in front of the rear track and was run over by the tractor. He reportedly received severe head trauma. The Adams County Coroner’s Office determined an autopsy was not needed.
