Columbia Basin picks up first win at 13-15 World Series
WILLISTON, N.D. — Evan McLean delivered from the mound and the plate, helping Columbia Basin capture its first win of the 13-15 Babe Ruth World Series.
McLean pitched a complete game three-hitter with four strikeouts and had two RBI in the 9-1 win over West Fargo. McLean and the River Dogs (1-2) nursed a one-run lead for most of the game before an eight-run fifth inning gave the team some breathing room.
Dominic Signorelli and Joshua Williams smacked two-run singles, while McLean added a two-run double. The River Dogs also benefited from six errors by the North Dakota state champions.
West Fargo avoided the shutout with one run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Columbia Basin will try to even its record for a chance to advance to bracket play today, 11:30 a.m., against New England.
