OTHELLO — Last Saturday, the first Business Expo was held in conjunction with the Farmers Market at Pioneer Park.

On July 25, the Othello City Council passed a resolution allowing the Greater Othello Chamber of Commerce to use the remaining space of Pioneer Park currently hosting the Farmers Market for a business expo. The Business Expo will continue to be held in conjunction with the Farmers Market on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., through the end of October.

The Business Expo is geared for all businesses in the Othello area to showcase their products, services or information in the park to gain greater exposure in the community. This weekly expo is also open to vendors including non-profits, service based businesses, at home business’s like Scentsy and Mary Kay and others.

“I want to include the businesses who are excluded from the Farmers Market,” stated Bianca Mendoza, manager of the Greater Othello Chamber of Commerce. “Even people who aren’t yet established as a business can come to me and I can help them.”

In addition to getting exposure to new customers, Mendoza hopes for it to be a place for businesses to network together.

“I want to create a place where businesses can connect with each other, so not only can they promote their business, but also support each other,” she said.

The cost for a booth is $10 per Saturday, and the first time is free. Businesses are also required to have the proper city license and be a chamber member. Mendoza said a business can apply to be a chamber member at the same time they are applying to be in the expo.
