MOSES LAKE — Brian McGowan, R-Moses Lake, announced Monday he will be running as a write-in candidate for Grant County Commissioner District No. 2.

McGowan, a former Port of Moses Lake Commissioner, came in third behind former Moses Lake Fire Department Chief Tom Taylor, R-Moses Lake, and businessman Nathan Pack, R-Moses Lake, in last week’s primary. Taylor came out on top in the race to fill retiring commissioner Carolann Swartz’s seat, taking in 1,000 votes, a 29.95 percent total, while Pack received 908 votes, a 27.19 percent total. McGowan came in about 300 votes less than Pack, receiving 623 votes, a 18.66 percent total, and missed out on having his name appear on the November general election ballot for Grant County voters to choose from.
