ROYAL CITY — The Royal School District (RSD) has placed Superintendent Rose Search on paid administrative leave while the district investigates a possible misuse of district funds, the district announced Wednesday.

The RSD’s Board of Directors requested its insurer, Clear Risk Solutions, to investigate “the possible misuse of district resources by Superintendent Rose Search,” according to the announcement. Clear Risk Solutions advised the district to place search on paid administrative leave during the investigation “in order to protect the integrity of the investigation.”

David Andra, the district’s business manager, was named the acting superintendent during Search’s leave.

“Administrative leave is not a disciplinary action and the board takes this action only to assure that the rights of all employees, including Ms. Search, are protected,” the School Board’s announcement reads. “Next steps are dependent on the results of the investigation.”

The district’s Board of Directors indicated it would not provide any further comments about the investigation at this time.

Search was unavailable for comment Thursday.
