ROYAL CITY — The Royal Golf Association has announced its tournament schedule. There aren’t as many events as in past years, but they are compelling.

All tournaments will be of the four-person scramble format. Except one, all tournaments will start at 9 a.m.

The Open House Tournament on May 14 will include a campaign for club memberships. New and renewed memberships will be on discount that day only. And there will be free snacks.

“It will be a four-person scramble to start the year off right,” office manager Athena Vetterick said.

The SummerFest Glowball Tournament, which drew great participation last year, is a night-time event. It will start at 9 p.m. with players, motor carts and the course set aglow.

Dog Days of Summer will be held on August 27. It is a test of who can handle the summer’s high heat.

The season will close on Oct. 8 with the Big Cup Superintendent’s Revenge. Cups will be cut so big that no one can miss. That’s if you navigate successfully the obstacles placed on the fairways and greens by golf course superintendent Shawn Vetterick.
