Moses Lake Industries wins Intel award

MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake Industries is a proven heavy hitter in an industry that includes conglomerate giants like Dow Chemical and Eastman Kodak.

The local company’s most recent recognition is just one more global footprint in its growing list of world-class achievements. Moses Lake Industries was recognized as one of eight companies to receive Intel Corporation’s prestigious Supplier Continuous Quality Improvement award for its performance in 2015.

“We’re up against some huge companies, so we see this as a significant award,” vice president of operations Mike Tiffany said. “When our customers see this award on our shelf, they know we can meet their expectations.”

Moses Lake Industries is a member of the Tama Chemical Group, a privately held global manufacturer of high-purity chemicals for the semiconductor, silicon and liquid crystal display industries. To be one of eight recipients out of 16,000 suppliers puts Moses Lake Industries in some exclusive company.

“We are recognized as one of the top suppliers in the country,” Tiffany said. “There’s very few that can provide specialty chemicals like this. Our competitors are Dow Chemicals, Eastman Kodak, some very big names in the industry … and then there’s little Moses Lake Industries. Anywhere you go to customer sites around the world you’re going to see a container that says Moses Lake on the side of the bottle.”

The Intel SCQI award is the most prestigious award of its kind in the global semiconductor industry. This 12th Intel quality award is part of Intel’s Supplier Continuous Quality Improvement program, which encourages Intel’s key suppliers to strive for excellence and continuous improvement.

To qualify for SCQI, suppliers must score at least 95 percent on a report card that assesses performance and ability to meet cost, quality, availability, technology, environmental, social and governance goals. Suppliers must also achieve 90 percent or greater on a challenging improvement plan and demonstrate solid quality and business systems.

Hendry also said Moses Lake Industries has demonstrated exceptional performance and industry-leading commitment across all critical focus areas on which we are measured: quality, cost, availability, technology, customer service, labor and ethics systems, and environmental sustainability.

Moses Lake Industries also maintains a research and development facility at the University of Portland in Portland, Ore., and an office in Seoul, Korea. Legal entities exist in Korea and Belgium.
