2016 is the 37th year MarDon Resort has hosted the Potholes Open Bass Tournament. Many fine memories come to mind of great bass catching and many dear friends. Saturday takeoff is at 9/10 a.m., and teams return to the weigh-in by 5:30/6:30 p.m. On Sunday takeoff is 6/6:30 a.m. and teams return to the fish scales at 11:30/12:30 p.m. The Potholes Bass Club has a wonderful raffle with amazing prizes. This event helps support the club’s activities. Fishers ranging from 12 years old to 78 years old enjoy this great event. Early pre-fishers have had excellent catches on practice Friday. Reports indicate many age classes of both largemouth and smallmouth basses. Fishers have reported smallmouth to seven pounds two ounces caught and released while pre-fishing and largemouth to six pounds four ounces. We are looking forward to the weigh-in to see some fine bass. Everyone is most welcome to come to the weigh-in and also to purchase raffle tickets to support the club. This event will see four decades of well-kept bass fishing boats.

Walleye action is continuing to be only fair this past week, with the spawn finally finishing. Some walleye fishers are finding the best action at the mouth of Frenchman’s Wasteway.

This weekend the MarDon Tackle Shop will be selling bass fishing tackle at a 20 percent discount. Spinnerbait, Flipping Jigs and flipping trailers, senkos and Jerry’s lures. This sale ends at closing Sunday April 17.
