David Maurice Longmire

| April 15, 2016 1:45 PM

January 23, 1976 – April 12, 2016

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the sudden and unexpected death, of David Maurice Longmire, 40, of Moses Lake, WA. in the early hours of April 12, 2016, David left this earth too early and the vacancy his passing creates is immeasurable for all that knew and loved him.

David was born in Yakima, Wash., on Jan. 23, 1976, into the loving arms of Diana Jean (Hoffman) and Mark Allan Longmire, Sr. both of Selah, Wash. David was fortunate to be loved and supported by many in his 40 short years, to include his stepparents, Greg Moss (spouse of Diana) and Wanda Longmire (spouse of Mark, Sr.).

David spent the bulk of his lifetime growing up in the Moses Lake area and is known as a man whose heart was as big as his personality, his fun-loving ways and quick wit with which he shared jokes and stories endlessly to entertain others. To know David, was to know his love of his family. The past several days have been a testament to that love, as those loyal companions have reached out in countless numbers, in a variety of ways, to connect with his surviving family and extend their love and condolences. David was always ready for the next thing...the next big adventure, the next family gathering, the next opportunity, the next day...and although his time on this earth was cut too short, it is with joyful hearts that we celebrate as a family that his next destination was the meeting of His Maker, Jesus Christ, and his reunion with those that passed before him. We will cherish our memories of this dearly beloved man, until we met again.

David treasured the words of the Serenity Prayer (Reinhold Niebuhr) and kept those words close to him each day with a coin engraved with its text. Never have those words been more comforting than they are now: “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Amen.”

David will be forever loved by those he left behind. He is survived by his mother Diana (Hoffman) Moss and stepdad, Greg Moss and his father Mark Longmire, Sr. and stepmother, Wanda. He is survived by his beloved brothers, Mark Longmire and Blade Longmire and sister Brenna Moss, along with countless family members and friends he held as dearly as family. David also leaves behind his four precious children, Jordyn, Ashlyn, Jonah and Skyler, as well as his latest joy, his grandson, Liam.

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, April 18, 2016 at Moses Lake Presbyterian Church, 1142 W. Ivy St., Moses Lake, WA at 1 p.m. with a brief public reception to follow. (**In lieu of flowers, donations would be gladly accepted for his surviving children at any local Horizon Credit Union in Jordyn Jones-Longmire’s name.
