MOSES LAKE — The Grant County Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast will be returning to Moses Lake in early May.

The breakfast will be held in the ATEC building at Big Bend Community College from 7 to 9 a.m. May 3. Tickets for the event are $20 for a single ticket and $150 for a table of eight. Groups and businesses can purchase sponsored tables for the prayer breakfast starting at $300 for a silver sponsorship, $450 for a bronze sponsorship and $600 for a platinum sponsorship, with each sponsored table including eight tickets.

The keynote speaker at the breakfast will be Andre Sims. Sims was born in Detroit, Mich. and raised in Chicago, Ill. He received a football scholarship to attend the University of Northern Iowa and transferred to Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. in 1986, where he received a one-year scholarship to play on the school’s football team for his senior year, according to breakfast organizers.

Sims received and turned down offers to play professional football in both the Arena Football League (AFL) and NFL Europe. He opted instead to pursue his passion for Christian ministry and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s of arts degree in Christian education and a doctorate of ministry in Christian education from Dallas Theological Seminary. He has been serving as senior pastor of Christ the King Bible Fellowship in Federal Way, Wash. since 2000.

The breakfast is sponsored by the Moses Lake chapter of Kiwanis. For more information on the event contact Francie Irwin at 509-750-2074.
