Walleye fishing is beginning to improve and the spawn is almost over. However, on April 6 walleye were released because they had not spawned, big hens to seven pounds. Lind Coulee has produced an 11-pound walleye. Crab Creek, above the powerline boat launch, has shown six-pound hens not spawned. The Frenchman Wasteway at Potholes State Park has been producing better walleye action.

Bass fishers are enjoying some amazing early April fishing. Near Goose Island one group of tournament bass anglers landed a seven-pound, two-ounce smallmouth bass and released it. In the sand dune area on Potholes Reservoir bass anglers released a six-pound four-ounce largemouth.

This past week we have seen several bass anglers playing hooky from work to go bass fishing. With weekend temperatures above 80 degrees this coming weekend it will be amazing.

Don’t forget the lowland lakes opener is April 23. In the Potholes Recreation Area, Warden Lake will open on the 23rd. That makes all seep lakes open and ready to fish.
