Japanese wind socks for Free Family Saturday

| April 1, 2016 6:00 AM

MOSES LAKE — A traditional Japanese celebration of spring will be the featured project on April’s Free Family Saturday. Free Family Saturday is from noon to 2 p.m. (or until supplies are exhausted) at the Moses Lake Museum & Art Center, 401 S. Balsam St.

Children can make their own version of koinobori, a wind sock that looks like (or includes the image of) a carp. It’s a traditional symbol in Japan, a symbol of good luck, especially for children.

The Free Family Saturday program is paid for through the museum’s membership program, museum sponsorships and the annual “Feed the Mammoth” fundraiser in November.
