OTHELLO – The Columbia Basin Health Association, Othello Community Hospital and the Othello Nazarene Church are teaming up to sponsor a Women’s Health Workshop at Othello.

The workshop will be held on Thursday, Oct. 1, at the Othello Nazarene Church. The church is located at 835 South 10th Ave.

“We will discuss and have information about women’s health issues,” CBHA Chief Operating Officer Dulcye Field said. “October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month. However, breast cancer is just one issue that will be discussed.”

Other issues include nutrition, exercise, breast feeding, osteoporosis, heart disease, diabetes, and stress management. Workshop leaders will be able to also answer questions visitors may have about medications.

“So bring your medication list,” Field said.

Because blood pressure control is vital to good health, nurses will be on hand throughout the evening to take blood pressures.

Appetizers and refreshments, prepared and provided by Othello hospital dietary staff, will be served throughout the evening. Participants are invited to come and go as their time allows.

Informational booths will have educational material available on a wide range of topics. Staff will also be on hand to talk to participants one on one.

“We will have a formal program at 7 p.m. with 10-minute talks by Melissa Alvarez, PA-C/Pharmacist (women’s health issues), Dr. Monique Small (obstetrics) and Lu Cole (mammography and breast cancer). A question and answer session will follow,” Field said.

All area women are urged to attend.
