Dave Graybill: The Fishin' Magician

I made another trip up to Bridgeport to fish for summer-run salmon and once again got a fish. Tom Verscheuren hooked the 15-pound king on a Super Bait. When he grabbed the rod he told me that the reel wasn’t working.

I cranked the drag down a bit and he then was able to reel the fish in. When I showed him how tight I had the drag set he was shocked. These fish are tough.

Chelan Falls is another spot I tried on the way up. There was a boat there when we arrived and they had hooked three fish that morning, and two were keepers. This is a great spot to find hatchery origin summer runs this season.

I am eager to get down to the Hanford Reach, as the big fall run is starting to show up. Don’t forget to mark your calendar for the free seminar on fishing for fall salmon at Town Ford on Thursday, September 24th.
