| September 2, 2015 6:00 AM

EPHRATA - Individuals and businesses may drop off fluorescent lights and other mercury containing lights for free at a Grant County Household Hazardous Waste collection near the Ephrata Landfill recycling center on Sept. 12.

The collection will go from 9 a.m.-2 pm. There will be a limit of 10 lights per person. The landfill is located at 3803 Neva Lake Road near Ephrata.

This collection will take traditional fluorescent tubes, the twisty compact fluorescent lights, and high-intensity discharge lights, which are commonly used in outdoor lighting fixtures.

This collection is made possible by the LightRecycle Washington Program. There are more than 200 LightRecycle Washington collection sites in the state.

Skaugs Ace Hardware in Moses Lake and Marty's True Value in Mattawa are fixed collection sites in Grant County. Individuals and businesses may drop off 10 lights per day.
