MOSES LAKE - Employees from the Monsanto Warden seed production site selected Moses Lake Food Bank to receive a $10,000 grant from the Monsanto Fund's 2015 site grant initiative.

Representatives from the organization and the fund celebrated the grant with a check presentation Aug. 4. Moses Lake Food Bank serves the Moses Lake community directly and the entire county through its distribution to outlying food banks.

Funds from the grant will be used to replace the multi-purpose vehicle Moses Lake Food Bank uses to deliver food and pick up donations.

"We are excited for the community support that Monsanto has demonstrated in choosing us for this donation," said Scott Kilpatrick, financial manager at Moses Lake Food Bank. "The donation will help us replace our aging "bread-run" truck, which is used to obtain donated food from our community and will help us continue serving those in need in Moses Lake and the county."

"The generosity of the employees at the site who helped us receive this donation is amazing," added Peny Archer, operations manager at Moses Lake Food Bank. "This vehicle is our lifeline to the ag community and other donors that assist our organization."

This year, the Monsanto Fund awarded more than $1.2 million to nonprofit organizations through the site grant initiative to help address essential needs in rural communities. Hunger relief organizations across the country have received $1.3 million from the fund since 2010.
