Dave Graybill: The Fishin' Magician

As I mentioned in my last report the walleye fishing continues to be very good at Potholes Reservoir.

It is still possible to get limits of walleye of 15 to 20 inches. When I was fishing at Potholes one of people on the boat was Shane Magnuson, and he mentioned that he would be fishing at Pateros in a few days.

I sent him a text to ask how he did up there and anglers who like to fish for steelhead this time of year will be interested in what he had to report.

He fished for two days near Pateros, and I suspect he was fishing at the Rocks and maybe the point across the river from there.

Magnuson said that his clients landed 14 steelhead and 12 were keepers. That’s pretty good fishing in anyone’s book, and I am pleased to hear the ratio of wild to hatchery.

Anglers that like to keep what they catch should head to Pateros. I fished at Bridgeport the week prior and my wife and I landed four fish and three were hatchery steelhead.

I would say that steelhead fishing is good in the Pateros/Bridgeport area and if you want a fresh steelhead dinner it would be the place to go, too.
