Luis A Sanchez
I am Luis A. Sanchez, and I am running for Royal School District board of directors position 2. I have lived on the Royal Slope for 30 years and am excited for the opportunity to serve my community and help improve the effectiveness of the district as a school board member.
My educational and professional experiences have given me strengths that I will exercise to effectively serve the Royal School District.
After graduating from Royal High School, I received my Associate of Arts degree from Wenatchee Valley College. I then graduated with honors from Central Washington University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Safety and Health Management.
Being a Royal alumnus, I have a vested interest and high expectations for all students’ achievement and continued quality instruction. My wife, also a Royal alumnus and school district employee, and I want to raise our daughters in the Royal community, where we feel a common shared belief of high standards for all students at high levels.
I was employed by the State of Washington with Department of Labor and Industries. My time working for the state allowed me numerous opportunities to review policies and procedures.
I intend to transfer them as a board member to responsibly review and hold myself and others accountable in an effort to reach goals that will ensure success for the benefit of all students.
I am the Lead Safety Coordinator for the Grant County PUD. My job has given me the ability to work together with union employees to maintain open communication and have a collaborative relationship where I listen to their concerns as we work together toward achieving goals.
I would transfer these and other team development strengths for setting and achieving district goals. One area I feel this would aid is in fostering a stronger relationship between the school board and staff.
It would help focus on identifying the culture of our district at each of the four schools. Our community and all staff members play an integral role in our school’s culture of morale.
I want to ensure that the Royal School District has a positive environment and has developed an improved strategy for better communication for all employees for years to come.
Due to transitions, circumstances and those in charge at the time, every school is saddled with its own set of challenges. The district’s history should be analyzed by identifying all major crisis and crucial transitions at times of high emotion, to help Royal move forward to achieve district goals. Those events should be analyzed and checked against current decisions and practices for future success.
As a result of a positive culture, the school would be better able to achieve its student achievement goals. Royal is fortunate to have the high caliber staff that educates my children and yours.
In order to support their efforts to help each student reach their highest level of success, educators need a school board that maintains a collaborative relationship with them and the community.
The benefits of a strong school culture are represented by inspiration, meaning and enhanced commitment regardless of the obstacle.
We have to be willing to negotiate differences in good faith. In taking part in numerous committees for the state, county and school district, I have successfully worked with people of various interests. I have used my even temperament to listen to the concerns of others, regardless of my own, to truly hear their message and opinion without prejudice.
I review data in my professional career to identify areas where improvements need to be made and utilize it to motivate others toward making continued improvements. I intend to use my experience in reviewing data as a diagnostic tool to acknowledge past performance while seeking solutions for our district’s challenges.
My belief lies in doing what is best for the students of our district. If elected I will listen to the staff, community members and other board members alike and encourage all to express their thoughts and concerns.
I am a product of the Royal School District, a member of this community, an involved parent, and I look forward to serving as a school board member.
