Adult ice hockey team returns to Moses Lake

MOSES LAKE — Ice hockey for adults, kickboxing for kids and adults, and music for small children are among the classes offered the next two weeks by the Moses Lake Parks and Recreation department.

Registration for the adult ice hockey league is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the ice rink at the Larson Recreation Center, 610 Yakima Ave. The Moses Lake Coyotes are open to players 18 years of age and older, according to a press release from parks and rec. Games are at 8:15 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays, beginning in November.

All participants must be members of USA Hockey. Cost is $150 for returning players, $200 for new players. The new player fee includes socks and jersey. People who want more information can contact Chris Hesse, 509-361-9672.

Kickboxing classes for adults and children began Tuesday and are scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday through Dec. 1. Children’s classes are at 5 and 5:45 p.m., depending on the child’s age, with adult classes following at 6:30 p.m. All classes are at MSI Martial Arts Academy, 216 West Broadway Ave. John McCabe and the MSI staff are the instructors.

Children’s classes are open to kids ages 5-16, and adult classes are for people ages 17 and older. Children’s classes are $30 per child, per session, and adult classes are $45 per person, per session. Children’s classes use the fundamentals of the kali jukune do system, while adult workouts are built around Filipino kickboxing techniques.

Registration is now open for the Kindermusik classes, a three-Wednesday session beginning Oct. 28. “Kindermusik: Cuddle and Bounce” classes are for children ages 6 weeks to age 2, and are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at the Learning Center, 701 Penn St.

Classes are for children and parents, and include music, dance and activities. Arika Loeffler is the instructor. Cost is $20 per child, per session, $10 for other siblings in the same class, and a $10 supply fee.

“Kindermusik Wiggle & Grow” is for children ages 2-7 and their parents, and is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. the same days at the Learning Center. It features music and dance, as well as some familiarity with musical instruments. Loeffler is the instructor. Cost is $20 per child, per session, $10 for other siblings in the same class, and a $10 supply fee.
