Don't forget... Annual Chili Feed this Saturday
ROYAL CITY — The Royal City United Methodist Church will host its 5th Annual Community Chili Feed this Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Royal City Community Center.
The RCC is located at the Royal Golf Course at 13702 Dodson Road. Chili will be served from 5 to 8 p.m. Volunteers have extended the hours of serving to 8 p.m. so farmers who are busy harvesting can come and eat before calling it a day.
“Please feel free to come straight from the field, and don’t worry about going home to clean up first,” church member Alice Parker said.
The menu will consist of chili, chili dogs, hot dogs, salad, corn bread, ice cream, lemonade, coffee, and tea. The cost for the chili feed is whatever the diner feels like giving.
“Thanks to the community for coming to our past chili feeds and supporting the church,” Parker said.
Several maintenance items and upgrades have been accomplished. They include: new flooring in the downstairs, a new electrical panel box for safety reasons and a new furnace and air conditioning unit.
Paneling was replaced with drywall and the new paint job has made the downstairs more bright and welcoming.
The last couple of years, the ongoing project has been to make the church handicap accessible. This year’s Chili Feed will help the congregation make that project become a reality.
“Please join us and enjoy an evening of fellowship with friends and neighbors,” Parker said.
