Nell Jolly Vaughn

Nell Jolly Vaughn, 96, longtime Coulee City resident, passed away Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015 at home with loved ones at her side. Interment will be in Valley View Memorial Park, Soap Lake at 10 a.m. Nov. 28 followed by a Memorial Service at the Assembly of God in Coulee City, Wash. at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Allan Fox officiating. Arrangements are in care of Kayser’s Chapel of Memories, Moses Lake. Nell was born October 4, 1919 at Mold, Wash. to the late Willis Jolly and Abigail (Campbell) Jolly. When Nell was six months of age her mother died in the flu epidemic. She lived with Floyd and Nell (Campbell) Jolly until she was of school age, when she went back to her father’s home. She married Elmer Vaughn Oct. 24, 1937. They made their home in the St. Andrews area where Nell was a happy farmer’s wife and a busy mother of five girls.

Nell was a charter member of the Assembly of God, Coulee City, taught Sunday School in the St. Andrews school house, worked in many summer Vacation Bible Schools, organized Bible Studies “out on the hill” and enjoyed her many friends.

Survivors include her daughters and their spouses: Karla and Frank Beardsley, Coulee City; Karen and Lyle O’Neel, Spokane; Jacqualyn and Bill Randolph, Kirkland; Judith and Ivan Gephart, Moses Lake; Kathryn Jordan, Coulee City. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding Nell in death were her husband, Elmer Vaughn of 58 years; her parents; two brothers, Clifford and Daniel Jolly; four sisters, Theo Mickelsen, Alice Hillbrick, Luella Tanneberg, Anne Nelson; son-in-law Dennis Jordan.
