GEORGE — A Hoquiam man was injured Friday night after a Beverly man failed to give right-of-way where Highway 283 and the Highway 281 spur meet one mile east of George.

Drugs and/or alcohol were a factor, the Washington State Patrol said.

The injured man is Thomas L. Rasmussen 59. He was driving a green 1997 Saturn SL2, and he was wearing his seat belt. He was transported by ambulance to Quincy Valley Medical Center. His vehicle was removed by George Towing of George.

Gustavo Telajda Morales, 48, of Beverly was the driver of the other car, a white 2000 Chevy Malibu. He was not wearing his seat belt, but he was not injured. The car was impounded by George, Washington Towing.

Eulogio DeJesus, 35, of Quincy was a passenger in the Tejada Morales vehicle. He was not wearing his seat belt and was not hurt.

Tejada Morales was southbound on 283 and failed to stop at a stop sign at the 281 spur. Rasmussen was eastbound on the spur when Tejada Morales’s vehicle struck his vehicle in the intersection.

The State Patrol charged Tejada Morales with failure to stop and DUI.
