Cozy Comforts Christmas Bazaar early next month
DESERT AIRE – The popular Christmas Bazaar organized annually by Cozy Comforts of South Grant County will see its 5th edition on Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Sagebrush Senior Center at Desert Aire.
In the past six years, Cozy Comforts volunteers have created more than 7,500 afghans, quilts and fleece blankets for children in need of a blanket hug.
The blankets are given to police and fire departments and other agencies that have to deal with children involved in emergencies or the arrests of adults.
Cozy Comforts is usually 25 members strong. The Christmas Bazaar is their principal fund-raiser each year. The funds are used for materials.
“We depend entirely on the generosity of individuals, corporations and local companies to help us carry out this much-needed mission,” Cozy Comforts President Diane Hanson said. “We would love to see you at the sale.”
The bazaar will open at 9 a.m. and close around 1 p.m. If you are looking for Seahawk stuff, you may want to be among the early arrivals.
This year, the ladies of Cozy Comforts will have a Seahawk section. So far they have slippers, afghans, infinity scarfs, cowls, hats, Christmas socks, bracelets and key holders. More items are planned.
Here are a few more details about what you can expect when you come in the door of the Sagebrush Senior Center on Desert Aire Drive.
In the food category, there will be cookies of all kinds, pies, cakes, cupcakes, candy, fudge, and snack items and much more. In the non-food category, there will be crocheted dish cloths, pot scrubbers, tote bags, gift bags, scarfs, quilts, afghans, and much more.
As usual, there will be a lunch of hot chicken soup, crackers and dessert bar. The popular "granny table” will be loaded with one-of-a-kind, just gotta have it, bargains!
The raffle prizes will include a basket of gift cards, donations from local businesses, crocheted afghans and more items still coming in.
Again this year there will be a silent auction including many gift baskets and more. The ladies are selling raffle tickets at $1 each.
