September 28, 1932 – October 31, 2015

Margaret “Marie” Hovde, 83, passed away Oct. 31, 2015. She was born Sept. 28, 1932 in Kent, Wash., the sixth of eight children of Harry and Ruth Hussey.

Marie grew up in Lake Forest Park. She attended school in Edmonds, where she met Wayne Hovde in the seventh grade. He would become the love of her life and they married on Sept. 25, 1953.

During their 62 years of marriage, they raised three children: Eric, Elayne, and Rod, and adopted son John. While living in the Bothell and Snohomish area they owned several businesses, where Marie was partner and manager alongside Wayne. They also found time to travel both in the USA and abroad. In 1992, they retired to Soap Lake, Wash. There they purchased a home on the lake where Marie was able to enjoy one of her favorite activities, swimming in the warm waters of Soap Lake.

Marie always had a smile to share and a song in her heart. Singing was her passion and for 25 years she sang soprano in a group called “Praise Sing” at Bothell First Lutheran Church. She would always say “God gave us music that we might pray without words.” Her love for singing could often be heard throughout the home. You always knew where she was, as you’d hear her sweet voice singing or humming.

Marie was proceeded in death by her parents, Harry and Ruth, and five siblings: Marshall, Dean, Tom, Lucille, and Jerry. Grandchildren: Brandon Hugh and Aubrey Layne Davies.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Hovde of Soap Lake; children Eric (Linda) Hovde of Gifford, Elayne Hovde of East Wenatchee, Rod (Cindy) Hovde of Snohomish, and John (Victoria) Davies of Bothell; grandchildren Bobby (Brittany) Greiert of Denver, Nathan (Katie) Greiert and great-grandson Logan Wayne of Snohomish; siblings JoAnn Humphrey of Colorado and Gene Hussey of California.

Marie was a strong and vibrant woman, but desired to go home and we praise our Lord that she has flown safely into the arms of Jesus for all eternity. She suffers no more the pain of this life.

Eccles. 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

A celebration of Marie’s life will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Community Evangelical Free Church, 110 Main Ave. E., Soap Lake, Washington. In lieu of flowers, please provide memorial gifts to a favorite charity or your church.
