Murrel R. Fay

Murrel R. Fay, 93, longtime Columbia Basin resident, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015 in Summerwood Alzheimers Special Care Center in Moses Lake, Wash. He was born March 11, 1922 in Colville, Wash. to Roena Armstrong and James E. Fay.

Murrel attended school in Wenatchee, Wash. and graduated from Lake Chelan High School on May 28, 1936. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and participated in several battles in Normandy, northern France, Rhineland and central Europe. He was honorably discharged on Nov. 22, 1945. He later worked for Northwest Textiles and sold real estate. After his first wife died, he married Shirley Ann Hohimer in November 1989. He loved to eat her cooking and go swing dancing with her. He enjoyed watching western movies and TV shows. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Soap Lake and Moses Lake Senior Centers. He will be missed by his friends and dear family.

Murrel is survived by his wife Shirley Ann, of Moses Lake, Wash.; children Berni Weaver of Las Vegas, Nev., Carole Ann Jenkins of Blaine, Wash. and Henry King of Moses Lake, Wash.; grandchildren Jon, Heidi, April, Russell, Reign and Radalyn; 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Memorial Services with Military Funeral Honors will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015 in New Beginnings Christian Center, 318 W. Northshore Dr., Moses Lake, Wash.
