Elsie Ruth Prentice (Johnstun), 80, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at Hospice House in Kennewick, Wash., surrounded by her family.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Nelson Road Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with Bishop Dax Wells conducting. Interment will follow at Pioneer Memorial Gardens. Family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at Kayser’s Chapel & Crematory, 831 S. Pioneer Way in Moses Lake, Washington, and from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. You may sign the guest book or leave a note for the family at www.kayserschapel.com. Elsie was born May 13, 1935, in Chandler, Ariz., daughter of the late David George and Martha Elizabeth (Connell) Johnstun. She was raised in the North Shoshone, Idaho area, and was the eighth of eleven brothers and sisters. She was married to Ray E. Prentice on Nov. 16, 1951 in Ogden, Utah. They lived in the Moses Lake area for a short time before moving to Seattle. They returned to Moses Lake to live and farm for several years, then moved to Ogden where Elsie worked at a garment manufacturing plant until 1971 when they returned to Moses Lake. Upon returning to Moses Lake, Elsie worked for a potato processing plant in Connell, before going to work at Basic American Foods in Moses Lake, where she worked until her retirement in 1995. She dearly loved her family and especially enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by five children and their spouses, Cheryl and Gerald Price, Richland, Wash., Carol Surratt, Marvin and Linda Prentice, Ginger Brumet and Madeline Prentice, all of Moses Lake, Wash.; three sisters, Agnes Thiemann of Alaska, Bess Miron of Montana and Beckie (Gary) Moates of Arizona; three brothers, Alma (Rosezella) Johnstun and Ted (LaRue) Johnstun, all of Utah and Karl Johnstun of Arizona and 12 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Elsie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ray in 2008, her parents; one son, Russell Prentice in 1986 and son-in-law John Surratt.
