MATTAWA — The Wahluke High School volleyball team fell to River View last week on senior night but, once again, coach Rudi Hirai was pleased with effort.

All of the games were competitive, and the Warrior girls put up a big fight in the third. The Panthers won, 18-25, 16-25, 20-25.

“We played great against River View. I am very proud of the way the girls competed every play,” Hirai said. “It was a huge improvement from when we played them earlier in the season.”

Hirai lauded senior Rebecca Ramirez, as “such a strong leader.” She has been a consistent part of Wahluke volleyball for the past four years. She led some excellent serving by the Warriors.

Selena Prudente had 13 digs, and Janeth Ramirez had seven. Others with strong serving games were Janeth Ramirez, Dianne Cruz and Abby Yorgeson.

There was strong net play by Mirna Gallaga and Abby Yorgesen and Megan Yorgesen.
